This novel depicts the unusual, if not perverse, desires of one mans obsession for the perfect wife. One young girls flowering into womanhood and the strange world in which she is molded. And an ending of bravado so romantic that you will find yourself reading slower just to make it last longer.
The average teenage girl spends many hours daydreaming of romance with an older man. Nicole Gregory wasn't really one of them; she loved sports and academics. She was far out of the range of norms when it came to her interests, as well as her beauty and innocence. She did not spend her time thinking of boys. That was until she met Robert Ames, a brilliant and handsome millionaire, who is twice her age. Nicole is quickly swept into an old-fashioned courtship with some very peculiar twists. Pulled into another world where she spends her last year in high school constantly plotting, Nicole enlists the aid of her best friend, and Robert, his chauffeur as their alibis. It is loyalty within these relationships that enable the couple to continue their clandestine courtship over a two-year period. And within this time of lies and deception new relationships are born. Their love forbidden by her parents, and Robert being old-fashionably respectful, they are forced to keep a low profile. Robert keeps his controlling grip on Nicole though he never actually touches her physically. He uses Marker, his chauffeur, as the go-between, to seemingly date Nicole and deliver her to him when possible. In the interim a secondary and denied flame develops between Nicole and Marker. As planned the Robert and Nicole elope on her eighteenth birthday. Accompanied by her best friend, the young Nicole Gregory is flown to San Diego for a short wedding ceremony after which the newlyweds bid adieu to the United States. The designated honeymoon in Japan turns into six months in the orient. To her horror the trip turns out to be just the beginning of a life and style that would consume her body and soul, forever. An under world compound used to teach one of the oldest and illegal customs in Japanese history. A place long thought of as bygone but still accessible by the extremely rich and extremely deviated, a mountain paradise, which her husband Robert knew well. Six months with one of Japans most notorious "Master Courtesans" does more than prepare Nicole for her new life as Roberts wife. The teachings become her life. Her every waking and sleeping moment centers on one thing, being perfect and perfectly attuned to Roberts every whim, and bodily desires. Never knowing the extent of bizarreness, or perversion of what would soon be her everyday life.
A slow ride through this woman's desires and tangled perceptions will tease and stir your own appetite. You will find yourself hating her and loving her at the same time. Disbelieving her while at the same time believing in her. The men who are touched by her innocence and sexuality will keep you guessing where their heart and intentions lead as well. And in the end who wins Nicole's heart.
